Burgers for Boobies, benefitting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, was a huge success. The staff at Cycle Center of Denton were welcoming and supportive. We successfully merged Pink and motorcycles!
I arrived early to set up and put those pink balloons to good use. Kenny graciously donated the helium, so all I had to do was blow up 72 balloons, not tough work, but time consuming. When I pulled into the parking lot there were pink balloons dancing all over the parking lot. Seems the staff beat me to it. What a great sight!
The arrival of the grill got the party started. As soon as Angel started cooking burgers the aroma filled the shop (we were right by the front door) and donators were lining up for them. Our donation jars filled up quickly.
Indoors, Lisa was working the T-shirt booth and getting signatures on the banner for us to take to Shell, WY this summer for the big Ride. The signatures are to honor a loved one who is either fighting or has fought the fight for life against breast cancer. It was a popular spot.
Jenni and I parked our Pinked-out bikes near the festivities and told Conga stories. Jenni’s bike was particularly popular for photo ops. Interesting, there was a Motorcycle Safety Class going on in the classroom which overlooks the parking lot and just as the instructor was talking about visibility, Jenni came rolling up and parked. He had everyone go to the window saying, “Like that!”
At the end of the day we kicked a little cancer ass, fed folks who donated, and laugh at all the looks our bikes drew.
Thank you to Cycle Center of Denton, the Chrome Angels, Jenni V. and, of course, all our donors! We ride to make an improvement in this world while we are on it. We ride to make a choice for life. See you in Shell!
